Medium: Styro Form, Aquan Resin, Fiber Glass, Acrylic paint, NYC phonebooks, book: "The Beasts that Hide from Man: Seeking the World's Last Undiscovered Animals" and a sealed 1fl oz glass container placed inside of the sculpture Size: 107cm x 56cm x 56cm (42" x 22" x 22") I have been quite obsessed with "Cryptozoology" for the past few years. With no doubt one of my favorite creatures is the "Mongolian Death Worm". During a joint expedition in 2005 by the Centre for Fortean Zoology and E-Mongol there was no solid evidence of the existence of this creature found, but I still believe that it exists somewhere in the Gobi Desert. While we wait until someday someone captures it I decided to make one myself :) Production was pretty tough and it required a lot of physical work. Below you can see the process of the production. Many thanks to Garrett, my studio assistant, who helped me tremendously to finish this piece in time for the "Heist" exhibition during Art Basel in Miami 2007.
