New York City 3000
I am soooo excited to finally announce my latest work "NYC 3000" commissioned by MTA Arts & Design, which is now on view across the 52-screen digital display at Fulton Center, running two minutes at the top of every hour through Summer 2023! If you happen to be at the Fulton Station this summer please pause for a moment and see if you can catch the animations on display. I would love to hear what you think! The 'New York City 3000,' is set in a retro-scifi inspired version of New York City in the future. The story follows a collection of strange creatures that are mischievous, funny, and cute as they roam around the city, causing playful mischief. These creatures are future residents of the city, representing the diverse cultures and communities that make up New York City. To bring this animation to life, I began by storyboarding the plot and mapping out the placement of the creatures in the cityscape. The creatures are various types of beings, each with unique characteristics that reflect the diversity of the city's inhabitants. My process focused on integrating them seamlessly into the city and bringing the story to life through animation. I drew inspiration for this project from the symbolic architecture of NYC, including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Center, Guggenheim Museum, New York Subway and Fulton Center. Using these landmarks, I created an imaginary future cityscape of NYC that combines the old with the new. I wanted to capture the energy and vibrancy of New York City, which led me to incorporate retro-sci-fi visuals and entertain and delight viewers with a whimsical take on the city's energy and architecture
"When the Night Falls", commissioned by 150 Media Stream
“When the Night Falls”, an animated film by Japanese artist Motomichi Nakamura takes place in the far future of Chicago where the city is taken over by residents-turned-humanoid bunnies and other mysterious creatures. Once night falls, giant city guardians are awakened and start walking around the streets while flying sea serpents come out of the lake and roam over the sky of Chicago. 150 Media Stream, curated by Yuge Zhou, is a multi-faceted achievement in art, architecture and technology that celebrates the transformational power of art as collective experience and explores the interplay of art, space and viewership in both public and private contexts. During regularly scheduled “artists’ moments,” residents and visitors come together to experience media art displayed at a grand scale, as 89 LED blades stretching 150 feet long and rising 22 feet high ignite into light, color, and movement. Developed in partnership with Chicago’s premier arts, culture and higher learning institutions and private supporters, the 150 Media Stream is an international platform for both rising and established Chicago, US and global media artists.
"Red Eyes" in Taos, New Mexico
A series of Red Eyes pop-up outdoor projections that took place in Taos, New Mexico in June 2022 during the Artist Residency program by Paseo Project. I only had 9 days to make a series so I wanted to make sure that I worked efficiently. To execute the installations, each morning after finishing my coffee, I started driving around the Taos area to scout for possible projection locations. I captured multiple photos of each location with GPS coordinates. Upon returning to my hotel room in the afternoon, I reviewed the photos and selected the ideal location. Using Google Maps, I navigated to the selected spot and set up the projector 30 minutes before sunset. As the sun set, the white test patterns became visible, and I began mapping the image onto the facade. I completed the mapping process in 20-30 minutes, allowing it to be visible while the sky was still bright and the surroundings were visible. In some cases, I even chose to project at sunrise to take advantage of the direction of the sunlight. For these, I would wake up at 4am and head to the location to set up. Amidst the scorpions, snakes, and bighorn sheep of the New Mexico high desert, even joined by the local police called upon by responsible local citizens who spotted the projection from far away, this was one of the most memorable projects that I have ever worked on. To me, the biggest takeaway was being out in nature and feeling overwhelmed by its power and beauty, which made me feel very small. Many thanks to Paseo Project for supporting this project! The Arc - Media Façade (디아크미디어파사드)
Organized by PK Art & Media. Daegu, South Korea. The annual projection mapping event “The ARC” is held at an enormous ark-shaped building in Daegu belonging to a state-run company called K-Water and the most important Center for River Culture in Korea. It was designed by Hani Rachid, a world-renowned architect based in New York. Music by Forgotten Arm

It's a story about a lonely and scared boy who locked himself in his small room, but inspired by Okami (wolf), he overcomes his fear and to go on a journey to explore the world outside of his room and finds strength in himself at the end. Pop-Up projection mapping
I have a passion for working with projectors, but a persistent issue I encounter is the shadow cast by visitors when they walk between the projectors and the projection surface. While there are some ways to reduce the impact of this shadow, such as strategic projector placement or using ultrashort throw projectors, I've been searching for a way to seamlessly integrate projection work into existing spaces, allowing visitors to move freely while still being able to interact naturally with the artwork. That's when I remembered the fascinating work of Tony Oursler, a Grand Master and Father of Projection Mapping. By utilizing pico projectors and projection objects installed in a self-standing metal structure, Oursler's work provides an inspiring solution to this challenge, creating a captivating and interactive visual experience for viewers.
Deep Sea, Immersive Art Installation
Projection Mapping Installation at Governors Island NYC for the Artist In Residence program organized by 4Heads. Due to the pandemic, no one was allowed inside but it is meant to be an Immersive Installation in which people can walk through the multiple layers of projections in the room and enjoy the experience.
